Job Description

Job Summary

The Golf Intern will assist the Assistant Golf Professional to enhance golf accessibility and engagement through innovative programming designed to introduce new golfers at The Loop at Chaska. This position will support golf operations and implement and manage events and initiatives in partnership with the non-profit Barrier Free Golf and The Loop at Chaska. This internship will provide a unique opportunity to gain practical experience working with accessible programming and golf operations while also making a meaningful impact on the community and its members.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with non-profit Barrier Free Golf and the Assistant Golf Professional to plan and execute various accessibility-based programming and group outings to promote golf participation.
  1. Provide support to players, both experienced and new to golf, including those who require mobility aids such as wheelchairs or seated adaptive golf carts (e.g., Verticat), ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience.
  2. Partner with Barrier Free Golf on marketing and outreach initiatives to promote programs and events, raise community awareness, and drive participation.
  3. Support daily golf operations by managing tee times, maintaining golf equipment, and creating a welcoming environment for all players as needed.
  4. Gather and analyze participant feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement in future initiatives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong passion and understanding for the game of golf including rules of golf and course etiquette
  • Commitment to fostering inclusivity within the sports community
  • Possess excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and community members
  • Ability to safely operate golf equipment and effectively instruct others on its proper use
  • Computer software skills, specifically golfing software programs
  • Previous experience in golf operations or accessible programming is preferred.
